At Viceroy Santa Monica, beating the LA heat has never been so cool. This trendy California hotel is all about giving guests the VIP treatment -sunglasses optional.

I was warmly greeted by the front door man who escorted me through an elaborately designed lobby with a bit of a SolCal edginess to the front desk where I was welcomed by a sparkling glass on champagne.

Watch your step when staying at Viceroy Santa Monica, because you never know who you'll run into while walking the elegant halls. This is LA at its finest, with picturesque ocean views, hip California cuisine, and beautiful people at every turn.

The decor at Viceroy Santa Monica is distinctive and fun, a mix of modern and vintage surf. Where else does a lime-green chaise lounge hobnob with a white ottoman? Somehow, in the 163 opulent guest rooms, such pairings work. Rooms are also appointed with flat-screen TV's and grooming products from Neil George.

Sunbathe, swim, or play at the hotel's two heated pools or the Pacific Ocean, just blocks away. Don't forget your poolside beverage: the Strawberry Vice and Mojito Royal are marvelous. Then indulge at Cameo Bar, featuring a live DJ on weekends, or get together for dining at Whist, where the rare wine list puts the shine on an evening of romance and style.

The staff was Fantastic! Really friendly and accomodating. The hotel had great style and the room was very comfortable. I would have liked some facial soap, but that is hardly a real complaint. I would stay there again.
