I have as much grace on a golf-tee as a gorilla on an ice-rink. I play because I am too old to run round a tennis court and it's apparently a great place to do business. I have yet to ace a deal as I spend most of my time in the bunkers!
Anyway, I have been traveling round the UK looking for the finest hotel courses on offer and undoubtedly Bovey Castle in Dartmoor is the most beautiful, The Grove in Hertfordshire is the most satisfying, Skibo Castle in Dornoch is the most taxing, Stoke Park in Berkshire is the longest (27 holes) and Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire has the most innovative hazards! I used to think that the best part of the game is a long, straight drive - it's actually finding a lost ball!
On the hotel front - the Infinity Suite at the Langham in London is just WOW! The 2 bedrooms are elephantine in size, there is a choice of amenities (how very Hong Kong) but a huge selling point is the amazing "chromatherapy" massage bath - all for just £3750 a night... hmmm - I'd have to win the US Open first!
