China - too big to ignore
The country is on the cusp of tremendous growth, with the Olympic Games open in Beijing at the lucky hour of eight pm. on August 8th 2008. This is a country developing fast, with massive growth potential in every sector. Now with a stable government, the final transition from the old regime is just complete following the September passing on of responsibility for the armed forces to President Hu.

For the first time the Formula 1 Grand Prix took place in Shanghai on September 26th - and Elton John played his first two concerts in China to sell-out crowds. Proof of the rapid development of China as a country to watch is clear from the recent announcement by American Express that in a joint venture with local bank ICBC they will start to issue Blue and Gold American Express cards by mid December.

Brands and exclusivity are very important to the Chinese consumer. Four Seasons, Park Hyatt and Ritz-Carlton are all under construction in Beijing - investment for the future is apparent everywhere in this exciting country.
