About Hitesh Mehta, Kiwi Sustainable Tourism Advisor

Hitesh is a pioneer in eco-lodge planning and design. With over 24 years experience, Hitesh has worked and consulted in over 55 countries on six continents. Born in Kenya, Mehta opened a traditional architecture and landscape architecture practice (HM Design) in Nairobi in 1990. The firm has since developed into a specialty eco-planning and eco-office based in Ft. Lauderdale. Hitesh has won many awards around the world, in the fields of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning Design and also has won local awards in Photography. He has been a judge and on-site inspector for the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Tourism for Tomorrow Awards, World Legacy Awards for Heritage Tourism (National Geographic/Conservation International), Ecotourism Awards (Condé Nast Traveler) and Green Hotelier Awards (Caribbean Hotel Association). He has been featured in over 110 international publications and is the author of three books, including the recently published “Authentic Ecolodges” by Harper Collins.
