Tickets for this year’s annual Edinburgh Military Tattoo, in the Scottish capital, sold out as quickly as ever.

Equally quick, however, was The Gleneagles Hotel, in Auchterarder, which managed to get some tickets that are now available for the one night of Wednesday August 22.
The program put together by Patrick Elsmie, GM of one of Scotland's most famous luxury resorts, includes drinks and canapés at Gleneagles followed by return coach transfers to Edinburgh Castle.
There, a tour guide and Gleneagles’ own host will accompany you throughout the evening. You may well sleep on the coach back, and in the morning - after a good proper night's sleep in one of Gleneagles' 258 rooms - you can enjoy a

Scottish breakfast, which for the uninitiated means 'English' breakfast with the addition of black pudding.
