The World was thought to be the ultimate creation by the massive Nakheel company - but then on January 21st 2008 Nakheel announced its latest project.

After developing and creating not only The World islands complex and
the three Palm Island complexes, they will now also create The Universe, a cluster of coral-shaped islands reaching from Palm Jumeirah to Palm Deira.

The Universe will take up to 20 years to develop. Nakheel's Chairman is Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem and its CEO is Chris O'Donnell.
