AT&T Williams F1 Formula One Team
The inaugural Singapore Grand Prix will be staged on a new street circuit, with the city's famous skyline providing a spectacular backdrop

Adam Parr (photo), now Chief Executive Officer of the AT&T Williams F1 Formula One team, which is sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland RBS, made a serious career leap in 2006.

Having met Sir Frank Williams at the Melbourne Grand Prix that year, he was persuaded to jump into Grand Prix management. A graduate of Eton College - where Prince William and Prince Harry both went - and Cambridge, where he read English, he then trained and practiced as a barrister (lawyer).

He has also spent many years working for Barclays Bank and Rio Tinto, in Australia, Japan, South Africa and the UK. He is now in charge of a company that has an annual budget of about $180 million, of which one third goes on salaries for his 530 employees.

He knows that in any Formula One team is far more likely to fail than succeed, in a way that is not always so obvious in other businesses. No one, he says, wins every race. During the first FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix, on Sunday September 28th, 2008 -
there will be a hospitality lounge at the AT&T Williams F1 Conference Centre.

Only 150 tickets are available. The Grand Prix is being used as anchor for interesting marketing ideas.

Philips, for instance, is launching an AT&T Williams F1 three-disk rotary shaver, HQ 7390, co-designed by Philips and key members of the design team behind Williams' 2008 Formula One car, the Williams Toyota FW30 (it features Nico Rosberg's racing number for the 2008 season, No. 7, below the start button).
