For more than 1,000 years, master glass blowers of Murano, next to Venice, Italy have taught their sons the art of creating beautiful glass. Afro Celotto is part of this glass blowing family. He was born on the small island of Burano, a part of the Venetian island group, which is famous for its brilliantly colored houses. According to legend, the homes were painted brightly so the fisherman could identify their own home from out at sea.
Celotto learned his craft while apprenticed to Lino Tagliapiertra, one of the greatest living glass masters, and he credits the colors of his childhood island as an influence for his creativity. His work has been shown at some of the most important art glass shows in North America including SPFA (Sculpture Objects & Functional Art) Chicago, SOFA New York and Palm Beach3.
In addition, his work is widely collected and represented by many of the most prestigious art galleries in the world. For this exhibition, InterContinental Boston has partnered with Laura Littlechild, owner and founder of Tesorino Gallery, on Boston's Beacon Hill, to make this exhibit a reality.

Art is Laura Littlechild's passion and she strongly believes in its significance in our world today. Littlechild stresses the importance of viewing many different things as expressions of art, which effectively inspired her unconventional gallery (“Celotto's pieces are as modern as they are timeless representing a craft that has been around since the 7th century", she says).
Guests staying at InterContinental Boston during the exhibition can also visit Boston’s Diablo Glass School to see demonstrations of the ancient craft of glass blowing.
