Ottmar Hörl's Rabbit Auction

200 of German sculptor Ottmar Hörl's rabbits will be auctioned off at in Monte Carlo on June 18th, 2009, and Hörl, who is President of the Academy des Beaux Arts in Nüremberg, will himself be there, www.ottmarhoerl.de.

The rabbits are part of 'Arty Spring', the current quarterly theme at Hotel Metropole, Monte-Carlo. A concept organized and managed by the hotel's artistic designer Maud Lesur, Arty Spring has, since March 27th, 2009, been displaying some of the rabbits around the hotel as well as in local galleries.
Other Arty Spring features include a Pop Art cocktail created Eddy Montana, Head Barman at the hotel: it is made with Midori (melon liquor), Manzana and Champagne, and served with a purple home-made macaroon and a slice of green apple.
They will also be able to try innovative treatments in the hotel's ESPA spa, look at Hörl art displayed in the lobby, and visit nearby galleries that are working with the hotel: the gallery list includes Galerie d’Art Monégasque, Marlborough Monaco, Maison d’Art / MDA Today, Adriano Ribolzi Antiquaire, Art & Rapy / Artcurial, Monte-Carlo Art Gallery –

On June 18th, the 200 rabbits will be placed around the hotel's lovely outdoor seawater pool. They will then be auction to benefit Monaco Aide & Présence’s “Monaco School” in Nepal, represented on this occasion by Nancy Dotta and by Marie-Cécile Proust, wife of Monaco’s Minister of State.
Funds will be used to help build a new 120-pupil school in the province of Riagon, North West of Katmandhu.
