Sip fine wine at Huka Lodge

On Saturday August 22nd, 2009, sees Robert Hill Smith, MD of Yalumba, hosting the company's 160th anniversary dinner at Huka Lodge.

Yalumba was founded by Samuel Smith in 1849, and Robert Hill Smith represents the fifth generation of his family. The next winemaker's dinner at Huka Lodge salutes Mt Difficulty on Saturday September 5th, 2009.

All wines that carry the Mt Difficulty label, from Central Otago, are sourced from vineyards in Bannockburn, south of the Kawarau River, and they are overseen by Mt Difficulty management.

Matt Dicey, winemaker and GM at Mt Difficulty, will host the evening at Huka Lodge, and his wines will be paired with food prepared by Huka Lodge Chef David Griffiths. David Griffiths will himself, in fact, be traveling in the next few months: July 1-14, 2009, he will be
cooking at Ciel Bleu Restaurant in Hotel Okura Amsterdam, which will also be presenting wines from Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate in Franshhoek.

This, like Huka Lodge, is owned by Alex van Heeren, who is honored as Hotel Okura Amsterdam's 2009 prominent overseas Dutch citizen.
