Scholar in Residence
Professor Roland Fletcher, an archaelogist with the University of Sydney, will be Amansara’s Scholar in Residence, December 1-5, 2009
Tuesday, December 01, 2009
Roland Fletcher is Professor of Theoretical and World Archaeology at the University of Sydney - he instigated the Greater Angkor Project, an international, multidisciplinary research program interested in the decline of urbanism at Angkor, in Cambodia.

Specifically, the project is investigating the relationship between the vast extent of Angkor in the 12th to 16th centuries AD, land clearance for rice production and regional ecological damage both then and now.
The study has implications for the past and the future health of the regional ecosystem, sustainable development and the management of Angkor as a national and an international cultural resource.
Amansara, in the center of Siem Reap, is the former guesthouse of King Sihanouk. WOW.travel especially likes its new-block rooms (we stayed in number 15, loved its private pool).

GM Siddarth Mehra arranges private trips to Angkor Wat’s myriad of amazing ruins, and if you want more exercise there are black Japanese push-bikes for you to borrow.
