The Huka Lodge Golf Classic, April 23-25, 2010, is an individual and pairs Stableford competition led by ex-All Black Andy Haden at nearby Wairakei International Golf Course.

On Saturday May 1st, 2010, enjoy a three-course literary luncheon with celebrated and immensely popular Australian author Bryce Courtenay. Saturday May 22nd, 2010, is the day for the five-course Ata Rangi Winemakers Dinner by Huka Lodge Executive Chef Michel Louws, and Saturday June 26th, 2010, it is the turn for a five-course dinner presented by Chris Donnellan, of Teage Ezard’s Melbourne restaurant Gingerboy. Continuing with the program, Saturday July 31st, 2010 sees a partridge and pheasant shoot for a private party of 10 Huka Lodge guests, and one week later (Saturday August 7th, 2010).
Grant King from Sydney’s Pier restaurant cooks his favorite dishes. Huka Lodge offers retreats year round. Owner Alex van Heeren opened this luxury lodge, a conversion of a fishing hut put up by Alan Pye many years before, in 1984: in those days guests were attracted mainly

for fishing and hunting and now they also come for lifestyle.
Dine in the wine cellar, in one of the main rooms, or outside overlooking the spectacular Huka Falls, enjoying cycling in Wairakei National Park, or along the river, or simply relax in your room, designed by color-palette specialist Virginia Fisher. There are now 25 bedrooms in all: newest is the two-bedroom Alan Pye Cottage, with gardens designed by Suzanne Turley.
