You can spend many hours in the atmosphere of Viennese charm and elegance in the State Apartments of the ancient imperial winter residence and dance into the New Year to the strains of Viennese waltz and operetta melodies.
The best way to do the evening is in style, of course. You process in at 7.30pm, to waltz music. "Emperor Franz Josef' and 'Empress Sisi' greet you as you walk up the Grand Staircase. There is a four-course gala banquet, prepared by the Hotel InterContinental Vienna, and the ball stars at 10m, with an operetta show from the State Opera and the Volksoper.
