Hot air balloon trips
Above the Swiss Alps
Wednesday, February 07, 2007
Buddy Bombard has a special way with balloon travel - and he personally has such charm that you want to go along 'just for the ride'. Among his spectacular forthcoming trips are highlights of the Swiss alps. Both excursions are five nights, starting February 1st 2007 and February 6th 2007.

You meet at the Hotel Beau Rivage in Geneva at 3pm on the first day - we sincerely recommend arriving in Geneva at least a day early so that can enjoy the lake-side hotel's stunning spa. On the trip, you will spend the five nights in the same hotel, at Grand Hotel Park in Gstaad. This is a 99-room property built in 'Alpine chalet style': General Manager is Gianni Biggi and there is an indoor pool, plus spa, to recover at the end of each day's ballooning. Buddy Bombard has no less than 47 locations you can use during your stay: daily, you are generally up in the air by 11 o'clock, and you stay up for three hours (a picnic lunch is carried with you). Every night, dinner is in a different Gstaad restaurant or private home.

All this is highlighted by the character of Bombard himself. A New York banker's son who graduated from Darmouth in Economics, he went into insurance before founding the Chalet outdoor adventure club. He has been flying balloons for over 36 years.
