Basel-born Yvette Thüring, GM of Swissôtel Le Plaza, www.raffles.com, says, interestingly, that most of the grand deals are made during the invitation-only preview on June 12th. (Note, the sister show, Art Basel Miami Beach in Florida, will take place December 6 - 9, 2007. For real style, head for breakfast on the terrace at Les Trois Rois, an art-filled hotel owned by Thomas Straumann, major owner of the giant dental implant company Straumann Holding, www.lestroisrois.com. Later, dine where the locals go, in Kunsthalle Basle, built in the 1840s by the owner of the across-river ferry - note no credit cards are taken.
