With a long stretch of beautiful and empty beach, a picturesque location, and luxury suites with private pools, Amanwella is ideal for the curious traveler in search of experience and relaxation.
EXPERIENCE
When you first arrive at Amanwella, forget all about having a typical hotel experience. There's no front desk and no check-in lines. Instead, the manager will greet you and usher you to the outdoor bar for a welcome drink, where sparse modernist design intersects perfectly with the greenery of Sri Lanka.
Chances are you've never had a beach this perfect all to yourself. Yes, there'll be a few other guests working on their tans and snorkeling technique. But you've got half a mile of private beach to work with, so finding a secluded spot to lay out won't be hard.
Amanwella has 30 suites, each with an identical layout. They're open and airy, with a plunge pool and a pleasantly shaded veranda. No TVs here, but that just leaves more time for long, romantic dinners and late-night swims. A large infinity pool overlooks the ocean, and just down the way, the Beach Club serves up light snacks, cocktails, and an incredible view of ocean and jungle.
Amanwella is on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, off the south-east tip of India. The island is host to a huge variety of amazing sightseeing destinations, both historic and natural, as well as many exotic cities and towns. Many are close enough to the resort for day trips.
The international airport at Colombo is about four hour's drive from Amanwella.
