When trekking through California's Sierra Nevada region, the last thing you'd expect to find is the food and hospitality of Provence. Indeed, though, it is there - at Chateau du Sureau.
EXPERIENCE
Towering pine trees, fresh, clean air, and French food. At Chateau du Surea, these are the building blocks of a dream that started all the way back in Austria. Erna Kubin Clanin, restauranteur and hotelier, has taken over a corner of this dramatic landscape, and added a healthy smattering of old-world charm.
Beginning with the Elderberry House eatery, the entire property is obviously foodie-forward. One can even enrol in cooking classes, and learn the tricks of the trade. The actual Chateau du Sureau and private Villa du Sureau are not to be outdone, with rich fabrics, deep woods, and original art, they all share a lovely pool area, and all the outdoor amenities you'd expect from the California wilderness. And while the French may not approve, you can even tour said wilderness via Hum-V.
After you've worked out your legs, and quelled your appetite, make sure to visit the Spa Sureau, for old world therapies mixed with new world world style.
