Chilwero means place of high view in the local language of Setswana. The lodge sits above the Chobe River and offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia. Relax in the luxurious 15 thatched cottages, with ensuite, sunken handcrafted baths, indoor and outdoor showers, private gardens and terraces overlooking the magnificent Chobe River. There is also a library, curio shop and a communications centre. Although located in Botswana, this intimate lodge is easily accessed from Zambia and the world famous Victoria Falls. Game activities at Chobe Chilwero are scheduled according to the changing habits of the game (subject to vehicle availability). Thrilling guided game drives in open 4x4 vehicles bring you to the heart of Africa's largest concentration of elephants, as well as hippos, buffalos, puku, antelopes, lions and other creatures that gather on the Chobe River's banks. Or join the acclaimed guides on a wondrous water safari on specially adapted motorboats. Sundowner cruises are particularly spectacular on the Chobe River. Fishing excursions are also available, for an additional cost.

The lodge is accessible by road and air. Kasane has its own international airport, which is approximately 10 minutes away by road. Chobe Chilwero’s preferred air charter company, Mack Air, offers an excellent service linking most camps in the region including Baines’ Camp, Chief’s Camp & Stanley’s Camp (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes). Road transfers are available to/from Zimbabwe and Zambia, which take approximately 1 hour and a half.
