EXPERIENCE
It takes an awful lot of effort to achieve minimalism. Like the models that spend hours in make up with the end goal of looking natural, the Das Triest is a simplified expression of Austrian design.
Individually styled rooms with furnishings from stars like Philippe Starck, Wittmann, and Minotti separates this hotel from Plain Jane lodgings. Sketched by Sir Terence Conran during his first foray into hotel design, Das Triest makes every effort to harmonize lighting, artwork, and flower arrangements with the pared back features.
The inner courtyard garden hosts the restaurant's summer grill, where Italian flavors are created with seasonal produce. Head to the Silver Bar for champagne cocktails, or into the Innere Stadt district to hit up a designer bar in an old pedestrian walkway. And during the day, visit street markets for traditional Austrian fare and be sure to listen out for the open air concerts scattered throughout the city.
