| Eden Rock lies on a rocky promontory surrounded by a coral reef and beautiful turquoise blue sea. Listen to the sound of the waves and feel the warm sea breezes as Eden Rock's physiotherapist provides a relaxing massage. |
EXPERIENCEEden Rock evolved from an imaginatively sited house built fifty years ago by Remy DeHaenen, a celebrated local adventurer. In 1995, the property was bought by an English couple, David & Jane Matthews, who intended, initially, to use it as a holiday home. However, a small bar was operating, which was kept running, one thing followed another.
The Eden Rock lies on a rocky promontory surrounded by a coral reef, beautiful turquoise blue Caribbean Sea and dazzling white beaches. Luxurious accommodations are individually decorated with rich fabrics, fine antiques and original paintings; situated on the rock or right on the beach, all have mini-bars, satellite TV and VCR, air-conditioning and telephones and offer an incredibly high level of comfort.
The open-air spa with seawater pools and spectacular views of the ocean is perfect for relaxation. Comfortable loungers and umbrellas are provided for your time on the beach, there is also an ocean side swimming pool. There are three restaurants on the premises; the acclaimed Eden Rock Restaurant is French cuisine at its very best in an incomparable atmosphere high up on the rock overlooking the ocean and there is the Sand Bar, where you lunch with your feet in the sand. Spectacular by day and romantic by night, Eden Rock is the perfect combination of luxury and privacy.
RECOGNITIONLOCATIONThe principal gateway to St. Barths (SBH) is through Juliana Airport in nearby Dutch St.Maarten, where flights arrive daily from both the USA and Europe. From St. Maarten, WINAIR, Air Caraïbes, and St-Barth Commuter, make the ten-minute shuttle flights to St. Barths (SBH). From Guadeloupe, Air Caraïbes offers a few direct flights to St. Barths (45 minutes) and others via St-Martin departing at times meant to accommodate the arrival of the bigger planes from Europe.
Locally based charter flights, which can ease transfer, especially from San Juan and Antigua (British Airways has a handy flight from London to Antigua), are also available. The airstrip in St. Barths is small, and pilots are required to have special training to land. For many, the landing, especially on a windy day, is an adventure in itself.
