The largest of Estancia El Rocío's five rooms and suites, this colorful two-floor hideaway is decked out with rustic colonial furnishings and décor. A fire crackles in the living-room hearth, and the windows overlook an olive-tree courtyard, part of the Argentine property's extensive grounds.
Out on the picturesque pampas, horseback rides are just one of the equine activities at Estancia El Rocío. You can also attend a polo clinic or watch an exhibition of pato, Argentina's national sport, in which polo meets basketball. Meanwhile, the local area is rich in wildlife, whether you prefer bird-watching or antelope hunting.
Having worked up an appetite, feast on empanadas, carbonada - a hearty stew - and other home-cooked delicacies at the ranch's communal dining table. And after a hard day's riding, nothing beats a dip in the pool or a snooze in a hammock on the terrace.

LOCATION
Estancia El Rocío is in eastern Argentina's Buenos Aires province, southwest of the city of Buenos Aires. By car, the ranch is 50 minutes from the Argentine capital's Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini International Airport and 90 minutes from downtown. Estancia El Rocío offers private car and helicopter transfers.
