EXPERIENCE

Hacienda de San Antonio's coral walls glow in the afternoon sun against the backdrop of Mexico's most active volcano. From the boutique hotel's upper suites in the two-storey wing, a volcanic-stone staircase leads down to the ground floor and access to the gardens. Inspired, as so many are, by Spain's famed Alhambra, the gardens are irrigated year-round by an aqueduct. LOCATION

Built on a plantation estate, Hacienda de San Antonio lies near Comala, in the Western Mexican state of Colima. The Hacienda is less than two hours from the Manzanillo International Airport or a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Guadalajara. To cut down on the driving, once you're in Mexico you can fly to Colima's domestic airport (a mere half hour away) or directly to the Hacienda's private landing strip (suitable for prop planes and air charter flights from Manzanillo and Guadalajara).
