Hotel AC Santo Mauro is located in the heart of the Madrilenian district of Chamberi, very near the Paseo de la Castellana. This area is well known for the exquisite mansions built by the Spanish nobility at the end of the 19th Century.
EXPERIENCE
The Hotel AC Santo Mauro is a palatial building from 1894, which was named after its first occupants, the Dukes of Santo Mauro. As it is very common in this type of properties, after the Dukes left it, the house became residence of several embassies until in 1990 it was purchased by its present owner, a prominent Spanish hotelier who transformed the place into a luxurious chateau-hotel.
The location of the Hotel AC Santo Mauro is by no means one of the most desirable to visit Madrid on foot; this is more a hotel for people who like a luxurious residence in a quiet distinctive district, and move around by taxi or limousine. The house is composed of two buildings: the original Dukes of Santo Mauro's Palace now fully restored, and an outside Pavilion which was built recently to house additional rooms. The better rooms as one would expect, are in the palace, specially the ones on the first floor. The decoration is more contemporary than is usually found in a chateau hotel.
The restaurant of Santo Mauro is important to mention, they have an inventive cuisine of their one with delicacies and the best part is that they are not jealous at all with their recipes, simply ask for anyone you like in particular and they will give it to you.
