The Portillo ski and resort experience is different from any other commercial ski resort. There is no neighboring town, so Portillo is totally self-contained, much like a cruise ship nestled in the magnificent Andean peaks. But Portillo is not just for skiing and snowboarding, socializing and relaxing, it is also for rejuvenating and restoring the body and mind in a natural environment that is nothing less than spectacular. Portillo has been South America's premier destination ski resort for more than 50 years, internationally renowned for its majestic, Andean setting and powder snow.

Hotel Portillo’s 123 rooms are cozy and warm. There are a variety of room types, including: doubles, family apartments and suites. Some of the rooms have a mountain view from the valley side while the rest have a view of the lake. The lake view is especially spectacular. Our rooms do not have TV. Instead, guests are encouraged to take part in the hotel’s many activities, to utilize the facilities, and to disconnect from the day-to-day routine. Rooms come with telephones, safes, hairdryers, mini-bars, and Internet access (Portillo has Wi-Fi connection throughout the hotel as well as a modern Internet Room). Chile uses 220 volts, so be sure to bring a transformer if you bring your own electronics. The housekeeping staff acts as your personal valets, and they will help you with whatever you need, whether it is a band-aid, laundry or a mending job. Housekeepers live on each floor.

At the entrance to the dining room you will meet Juan, the maitre 'D. He'll ask which seating time you prefer, 8:30 pm or 9:30 pm, and then he will offer you a table that will be yours for the week. During the week, Juan will be making certain that you are being served as you wish to be served. Your waiter and busboys stay with you for the week as well, and they are an entertaining group of people.

The hotel is in a wonderful location, with ski to access to the slopes. It is only a one minute walk to the "town centre," with a supermarket in the same complex. 210 km. to the east of Valparaíso, 80 km. to the east of Los Andes, Valparaíso Region and 164 kms. to the northeast of Santiago.
