The very concept of this luxury hotel includes no electricity telephones, flashy restaurants, or buzzing nightlife, instead these are replaced with alternative powered ceiling fans and biodegradable products. Each evening, the resort, rooms and pathways are lit by the soft glow of candles and torches.

Hotelito Desconocido has 24 palafitos built on stilts overlooking the crystal clear water of the lagoon or beach, with only the moon or the candles lighting the way at night. Constructed in the style of a Mexican village; Hotelito Desconocido offers guests most unusual accommodations, palafitos, bungalows built on stilts over the edge of the estuary, or snuggled in the sand dunes right on the beach. Perhaps not surprisingly, the most popular palafitos can only be accessed via water, and come equipped with a row-boat.

Hotelito Desconocido presents a home-made menu of Mexican and international cuisine containing seafood and fresh organic vegetables that are grown on the extensive property. There are two restaurants, El Cantarito and Nopalito. With a generous dose of creativity, Hotelito Desconocido has an inventive system for room service that makes up for its lack of telephones, from the comfort of your bed, you may summon for coffee by simply pulling a red rope. This hoists a flag a signaling that you are ready to be served. Breakfast and dinner are served at El Cantarito restaurant, which sits on stilts over the blue water with a view of the estuary. The beach restaurant and bar, Nopalito, serves lunch.

The El Mundo de la Salud Spa is another welcome option for those that want to enjoy relaxing treatments, steam saunas and cold water Jacuzzi. The rustic spa provides an assortment of luxurious, relaxing, reviving and soothing treatments. These include reflexology, aromatherapy, shiatsu, Swedish massage, stone therapy, mud bath, and an exfoliating Mermaid Bath body treatment.
