EXPERIENCEFrom outside Kishoan looks like a Modern Art Gallery, and once you’re inside you feel as though you are in a gallery, with local artist's work on display along the corridor to welcome you. Asama Onsen is a gateway to the highlands with natural beauties such as Kamikochi and Utukushigahara as well as the northern Japan Alps.
The room concepts were created by a modern architect who also utilized the traditional Japanese style of Shoin, a residential construction style from old days. Every room reflects the concept of the mixture of the modern design and traditional construction style, inviting guests into a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere. Kishoan consists of nine standard Japanese style rooms, a Japanese style room with second bedroom, 12 Japanese style rooms with outdoor spa, three Japanese style rooms with outdoor spa and terrace and a VIP Japanese Style room.
Ryori Chaya teahouse serves a wide variety of dishes using fresh ingredients from the sea and the local area. Asahano Kaiseki meals consist of small samples of a wide variety of dishes, made using only the best of seasonal foods to reflect the traditional Japanese respect for the seasons in the foods served.
Kishoan provides a variety of baths and hot bath facilities which allow guests to enjoy the benefits to be gained from the historic Asama Hot Springs. The different baths include a traditional Japanese public bath, steam bath, outdoor bath, sauna, mist sauna and radiant heat bath. Kishoan also has an Aesthetics Salon for total relaxation. A main tourist attraction in the city is Matsumoto Castle, built more than 400 years ago. It is also called Crow Castle because of its black appearance.
