La Purificadora

La Purificadora is a brand new design hotel in the colonial city of Puebla, on the road from Mexico City to Oaxaca. Housed in a former 19th-century water-purifying centre, the guiding principle of the hotel's design is purity. Black and white are used to bring out the colors of the natural materials used, with ecclesiastical purple adding a dash of color - the hotel lobby looks out on to Iglesia de San Francisco.

Most of hotel’s 26 guestrooms – including three suites – offer spectacular views of the city, which has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As would be expected from innovative Mexican hotelier Carlos Couturier, La Purificadora offers travelers and locals alike a comforting yet always stimulating experience – a mix of tradition and contemporary flavor in its purest form.

A ground-floor restaurant, patio, library and extensive wine cellar offer civilized diversions, but La Purificadora's real achievement is in its mix of tradition and contemporary flavor, giving Puebla a hotel to savor on the road to Oaxaca.

Puebla has managed to preserve the treasures created by architects, artists and craftsmen. Today, the Historic Center is a World Heritage Site where you can visit churches and convents, admire colonial doorways and facades, wander through plazas and patios or visit museums displaying everything from pans to railroad cars including paintings, archaeological objects, and of course, the books in the valuable Palafox Library collection.
