| Originally built around 1640 and restored in the early 1960s, La Posta Vecchia is a small and intimate hotel preserving the historic atmosphere of ancient Rome and providing all the comforts of modern Italy. |
EXPERIENCEThe villa was built around 1640 for the Orsini family over the remains of the Roman town of Alsium. In 1960 it was bought by Jean Paul Getty, who restored it to its ancient splendor, adding furniture acquired from princely homes in all parts of the world. During the restoration works, the ruins of a large Roman villa were uncovered and these now form the core of the small archeological museum in the hotel’s basement. The present owner bought the villa from the American industrialist and re-converted the hotel to its original function of refined hospitality, retaining intact the treasures collected by J. Paul Getty.
La Posta Vecchia is a unique hotel, complete with a beauty center, indoor pool and its own Roman museum which houses the remains of two ancient Roman villas. Whether you are planning a honeymoon vacation or simply looking for a quiet escape, La Posta Vecchia is a great getaway. The hotel has 19 individually furnished rooms and suites, each named after a famous person who has stayed at the villa over the past centuries.
