In winter, you're 30 minutes away from the spectacular skiing on Whiteface Mountain, which boasts the largest vertical drop in the East, at over 3,000 feet. Lake Placid Lodge is on the edge of Lake Placid, in the ancient Adirondack Mountains. The nearest international airport is in Albany, approximately two-and-a-half hours away by car.
