The solid wood top tables and leather place settings are positioned within discreet bays, hand tailored paint work of gold and purple curve theatrically toward the candle lit stairway, the top steps lead through a heavy velvet drape of rich crimson and once beyond that you enter the intimate and inviting atmosphere that is the new Brasserie. Always the heart and soul of every Mal, this inviting space takes on a seductive air under candle light and the gentle buzz of fellow diners. The first Café Mal, a deli style café on the quayside has opened there at the Newcastle Malmaison. Got the munchies or missed a break this morning? Then why not stroll down and grab a richly brewed cappuccino and choose from a yummy variety of freshly homemade panninis, salads and sandwiches. Sit back and enjoy the view whilst sipping on a delicious fruit smoothie or munching away on a range of homemade cakes and pastries. The Café, with its vibrant and unique design has brought a new style of eating down to the quayside of Newcastle.

Cozy yet sexy, warm yet cool, intimate aubergine leather sofas offer sink–in sumptuousness and compliment the chrome and plum colored high perched bar stools which line the window space showcasing the unrivalled views of the River Tyne.
