North Island is a sanctuary, lapped by warm tropical waters, where natural habitats have been rehabilitated and endangered Seychelles fauna and flora have been given a place to regenerate. The Island has only 11 guest villas, exquisitely designed to celebrate nature and offer an authentic home-from-home ambience. Using materials reaped from the rehabilitation process, Seychellois and African craftsmen have individually handcrafted each villa into a warm and inviting space that offers the rare opportunity to completely relax.

Raised off the ground to catch the cooling island breezes and completely self-contained, North Island’s villas have two air-conditioned bedrooms, kitchens, overhead ‘punkah punkah’ fans, satellite televisions, DVD/CD systems and internet access. Luxuriously-proportioned master bedrooms feature dressing rooms, writing areas and en-suite bathrooms with marble bathtubs and showers. Fully-retractable sliding doors allow uninterrupted views over the lawns and turquoise seas directly in front of the villas. Plunge pools with reed-covered salas and outdoor showers provide the finishing touches to each private sanctuary. The result is a special destination that touches the lives of its guests and inspires them long after they have left.

Activities on offer at North Island are designed to have minimum impact on the environment yet provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy its magic at their own pace and experience total harmony with nature. Nurture body and soul in the Espa holistic Spa, mountain bike the island’s trails, explore the underwater world, kayak the coastline, stroll along one of the four idyllic beaches or simply relax under the magnificent Indian Almond tree in the island’s Piazza.

Besides its exceptional beauty, North Island has long been renowned for the richness of its fishing grounds and it is not surprising that the lodge should draw its culinary inspiration from the sea. The island’s chef, David Godin, speaks with guests upon arrival to find out their preferences and develops a daily array of sumptuous dishes to suit their tastes, combining flavours of Africa, France, southern India and south-east Asia with the island’s organic resources and the abundance on offer from the Indian Ocean. Whether dining against a backdrop of natural granite, on a secluded beach, alongside the island’s pool overlooking the bay or in the privacy of their own villa, guests are promised a memorable culinary experience complemented by an impressive cellar featuring some of the world’s great wines.
