Palazzo Terranova's name is somewhat misleading - it's hardly new country, in fact virtually all of its charms are rooted in the rich tapestry of old Italian culture and natural beauty enveloping it.
Only eight rooms and villas are offered at Palazzo Terranova, though the actual property itself stretches expansively across the countryside, giving each guest all the space they could possibly want, both inside and outside their private quarters.
The 40-foot pool and jacuzzi sits at the rim of a steep hillside, giving you a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and the vaulting sky overhead.
While many of the guests are content to sit back and eat and drink the days away, the hotel does encourage you to explore some of the off-site adventures available, which include horseback riding and taking intimate wine tours of world-famous wine country, including the vineyards for Chianti, Brunello, and Sagrantino vintages.
LOCATION
Palazzo Terranova can be found at the border between Tuscany and Umbria, Italy's pastoral heartland. The nearest town is Ronti, if it can even be called a town (perhaps it only really qualifies as a village). Terranova is 30 miles from the San Egidio Airport, but it will probably take the better part of an hour to make the trip through the countryside. Get directions from the staff, or better yet, keep a mobile phone handy, as the last few miles of the trip are circuitous and tricky.
