EXPERIENCE
Phinda Private Game Reserve is situated in the lush Maputaland region in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Bordering the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park - a World Heritage Site - Phinda comprises 22 000 hectares of prime conservation land. Seven distinct habitats shelter an abundance of wildlife including Africa's Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo) and over 380 bird species, while the marine diversity off the nearby coast of Sodwana is said to rival the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Phinda's four splendid safari lodges offer sophistication and style in pristine African bush surrounds. Lodges include Phinda Rock Lodge, Phinda Vlei Lodge, Phinda Zuka Lodge, and Phinda Getty House. Phinda Rock Lodge consists of six exceptional suites suspended from the side of a rocky cliff. All suites have their own private sitting area, personal bar, plunge pool and deck offering unrivalled views of spectacular Leopard Rock and the valley. Phinda Vlei Lodge consists of six stilted glass and thatch suites situated in the rare Dry Sand Forest. All suites have a personal bar on the deck and private plunge pools. Phinda Zuka Lodge offers four thatched Zululand bush cottages featuring verandas overlooking a bustling waterhole. Getty House is a sophisticated sole-use villa on Phinda Private Game Reserve situated in the west of the Reserve on 3 500 hectares. The exclusive, cutting-edge private residence overlooks an extinct volcano now covered in lush green vegetation and ringed by gently rolling hills.
Safari activities at Phinda Private Game Reserve are plentiful. Enjoy game-drives, interpretive bush walks, canoeing on the Mzinene River, White Rhino tracking, or watch the sunrise or sunset whilst enjoying the Mzinene Riverboat Cruise.
