| At Pousada Picinguaba luxury means nature, calm and authenticity. It is an exceptional hideaway of some considerable beauty surrounded by the mountainous 'Atlantic jungle' located half way between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. |
EXPERIENCEPousada Picinguaba is situated in a calm and peaceful bay at the heart of the Natural Park of "Mata Atlantica", a tropical coastal forest overlooking the sea and a protected 3 km-long sandy beach. It is ideal for enjoying the surrounding nature and the local way of life. A limited number of rooms allows the resort to retain an exclusive allure and allows for both a high quality and an individual service for all of their guests.
Pousada Picinguaba, with its ten rooms, private schooner and local guides, brings together all that is great about Brazil. All the materials are natural, the buildings and decor honor the creativity of the local craftsmen and many other Brazilian traditions. Everything is designed to come and embody the spirit of the place, with nothing to disturb nature's magic: There's no TVs, telephones or Internet connections. It is time to relax and to let go to the sound of the wind in the palm trees and the sea gently lapping at the shore.
The restaurant and bar are exclusive for residents and offer exquisite local specialties and splendid views over the bay. At Picinguaba they are fond of gastronomy, and always make sure that they choose fresh and tasty local products from the ocean and the rich tropical forest.
Relax at the large fresh water swimming pool, fed from a natural spring, and in the tropical gardens surrounding Pousada Picinguaba or venture out and a few minutes away, the beach and forest are waiting to be discovered. The Pousada’s 40-feet schooner is anchored at beachfront and is available to take guests to the sandy beaches of the local islands, or on short cruises.
Note that Pousada Picinguaba has a 4 night minimum stay requirement for all bookings. LOCATIONPousada Picinguaba is located halfway between Rio and Sao Paulo, however the access from Sao Paulo airport is slightly easier, due to better air connections from Europe and also because the airport is on the freeway, which leads to Picinguaba so there is no need to cross the city.
It is advised to avoid traveling at night due to badly signposted roads. Allow 3½ to 4 hours to reach Picinguaba from Rio or Sao Paulo. From Parati, look for a tiny road on the side of the sea written “Vila Picinguaba” about 30 km south of the exit of the city.
By car the resort offers transfer services with their own team of drivers and comfortable cars. They can also arrange helicopter and plane transfers from and to Rio, which are good value especially for 4 or 6 people. You can also find Car Hire at the airports of Rio and Sao Paulo.
If you don't know the region or don't speak Portuguese, driving in Rio or Sao Paulo and finding the road “Rio-Santos” which leads to Parati can be quite difficult and it is not recommended.
