EXPERIENCEOverlooking the breathtaking Storfjord and Sunnmore Alps, the Storfjord Hotel is built in traditional lafta and beautifully situated high above the village of Glomset. This village is set between three mountains and conveniently situated for touring Norway’s stunning West Coast.
The Storfjord Hotel has just six spacious rooms, each with a luxury bathroom suite and some with classical four poser beds, The rooms are all individual in character and design and all have a large balcony with magnificent views of the fjord and mountains. All rooms have television and DVD players as well as wireless broadband internet access.
3 course dinners are served each evening in the timbered hall where a rich atmosphere can be enjoyed either on the grand main table or at a private table for two. The large open fireplace is often alive in the colder evenings so that guests can experience the hall at its best. A set menu made from local ingredients of the highest quality is skillfully prepared by the hotel’s chef and there is a selection of fine wines and spirits to complement dinner. The helpful staff will ensure all guests receive excellent service throughout. And dietary restrictions or vegetarian requests can be catered to if advance notice is given.
Located at the gateway to the famous “Golden Route” touring from the Gjestehus will provide simply some of the worlds most breathtaking scenery including Geirangerfjord (now on UNESCO’s World Heritage List as “The world’s most beautiful fjord”), the jewel in the crown. A ninety minute spectacular drive, taking you through villages nestling in the valleys, high mountains and deep fjords. As guests descend into Geiranger village via the Eagle Road, a spectacular sight await: deep in the fjord lies Geiranger valley, surrounded by majestic mountains and cascading waterfalls. Thousands of tourists visit daily from across the world; they come in cruise liners, coaches and cars to experience this natural wonder.
LOCATIONStorfjord Hotel is set in six acres of private land amidst thousands of acres of protected forest. Overlooking the Sunnmore Alps and Storfjorden, which connects with Geirangerfjord and Hjorunderfjord UNESCO Heritage sites. The has a jetty and several boats in Glomset Bay. the hotel is just a short distance from the airport and the town of Alesund and ideally suited for the many local activities around Glomset and for touring the Golden Route.
