Taprobana

Conceived by designer Taru as a source of inspiration and a means of escape from the stress of contemporary living, Taprobana lulls guests into a sense of oneness with itself as you walk barefoot on its cool cement floors, soak up the atmosphere of its exotic garden, and lose yourself in the play of light and shadows on the surface of its turquoise pool. Taprobana offers nine individually designed supremely comfortable rooms, a beautiful, deserted beach, discreet service and fine cuisine.

Each of Taprobana's individually designed rooms and public areas are furnished with carefully selected pieces of object d'art and antiques from Sri Lanka's rich colonial past and ancient heritage. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms with guest amenities, and balconies or terraces that look out to lily ponds and frangipani trees in the garden or across coconut palms towards the ocean, while overhead fans and fresh ocean breeze cool all nine rooms. There are two categories of rooms, although each has its own distinct character; Standard or Superior, of which the Superior rooms have larger spaces than the Standard rooms.

Taprobana’s main menus come unusually framed in 18-inch red mahogany boards. The restaurant offers a range of delicious and original ‘fusion’ dishes with a strong Thai influence, spiced up with tamarind, lemon grass, satay, green papaya and jasmine, though the heat is kept down for Western palates.

Taprobana is situated in Bentota which is located on the northern coastal tip of the Galle District of the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. The town is a popular tourist attraction, it is especially famous among the foreign tourists.
