EXPERIENCE

Le Meurice has been dazzling guests for centuries, so much that countless public figures have made it their Parisian home away from home. This legendary hotel reopened in July 2000 after an extensive renovation that restored this landmark hotel to its 18th century splendor, making it dazzle more than ever. Its Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Meurice, is much lauded by Parisians and hotel guests alike, as is the “vinotherapie” spa, L’Espace Bien Etre. Located between the Place de la Concorde and the Grand Louvre, facing the Tuileries Garden, Le Meurice is in the heart of the 1st arrondissement and its exciting mixture of new, trendy, and traditional boutiques.

There are 160 rooms in the hotel, each a perfectly conceived retreat, with fine furnishings and luxurious fabrics. The decoration of every room is unique and all furniture is upholstered in fabrics from famous, top of the line French and Italian companies such as Rubelli and Braquenié. All together 171 different fabrics have been chosen and each room boasts at least 100 yards of such fabrics, with some rooms using more than 200 yards. On the first floor, the Louis XVI style is used for the Presidential Suites. On the second and third floors, the dominant style is more streamlined, less ornamented style, well suited to business travelers. In the Castiglione wing of the third floor, however, the style is Empire, an allusion to Napoleon, whose castle once stood on the site of the Tuileries Gardens, and whose statue today sits atop a column that he built on the Place Vendôme, visible from the windows of the Castiglione rooms.

The fourth and fifth floors are a light expression of Louis XVI style, emphasizing floral motifs. The décor alludes to the Petit Trianon at Versailles as well as the Tuileries Gardens. The sixth-floor is a dormer floor, very intimate and distinctly Parisian in style. The rooms are decorated to look like Parisian apartments, with fabrics papering the walls. Some rooms have hand-painted ceilings depicting the sky; others have canopied beds, and some, marble fireplaces. All room’s feature antique doorknobs, and window knobs feature Le Meurice’s greyhound logo. The rooms overlooking rue Mont Thabor, rue Castiglione, and the inner courtyard focus on the details and orientation of the rooms themselves. In contrast, the décor of the rooms overlooking the Tuileries is calculated to draw the eye toward the window and beyond to the gardens below. Each room features modern amenities including a minibar, TV with remote control, two direct telephone lines, Internet access through the television (with a wireless keyboard), bathroom telephones, and a safety deposit box. Stereo equipment and fax machines are available upon request.

RECOGNITION

LOCATION

Located between the Place Vendôme and the Jardin des Tuileries, Le Meurice has a coveted location in the midst of the first arrondissement. The “quartier” combines classic elegance and modern sophistication. Trendy boutiques, like Helmut Lang and Colette have opened next to traditional shops like Goyard and Guerlain. Typical Parisian cafés offer visitors the opportunity to mingle with locals and enjoy the vibrant life of this celebrated neighborhood. Only forty-five minutes from Charles de Gaulle Airport, thirty minutes from Orly Airport, public parking at Place Vendôme. And fifteen minutes from the Gare du Nord (the Eurostar Station).
