| Nestled amid towering pines and constructed of massive notched logs is a refuge of wilderness luxury...'The Point'...the most enchanting lakefront sanctuary of its kind in America. |
EXPERIENCEThe Adirondack Great Camps were built along rugged shorelines between ancient forests and shining mountain lakes, in the late 1800s and the early part of this century. They were sumptuous retreats for the very wealthy and their friends. None was more lavish or expressed more fully the collage of mountain charm and luxury sought by their owners than “The Point”.
Constructed on ten acres of peninsula stretching into Upper Saranac Lake, The Point was originally Camp Wonundra, the home of William Avery Rockefeller. There, in the heart of the vast Adirondack wilderness, he lived quietly and entertained in the gracious style of The Great Camp era. The Point combines that tradition of honoring guests with its unique combination of warm hospitality, grace and rustic elegance.
Your time at The Point can be as solitary or social, as active or relaxed as you like. The possibilities are as broad and grand as the thirty-by-fifty-foot Great Hall in The Main Lodge.
Eleven distinctive guest quarters are spread among four buildings. Bedrooms are vast - deliciously odd, grand and yet intimate. Each room has a broad lake view, custom-made beds, and spacious private bath. All contain an eclectic mixture of antiques and Adirondack furniture, and all have huge fireplaces of chiseled stone. The Main Lodge has two wings with two guest rooms each. Situated in the center of the Main Lodge is the Great Hall, where guests gather to dine. The Eagle's Nest houses three guest rooms and the Pub. Sentinel and Lookout are upstairs, with Trappers and the Pub below. The Guest House is adjacent to the Main Lodge and contains three unique guest rooms. Built over the water, The Boathouse offers unique accommodation, giving guests the impression of living on a magnificent houseboat.
They are proud to offer their guests the finest in cuisine prepared under the guidance of one of the world's pre-eminent chefs. Whether solitary or social, corporate or family reunion, The Point each season presents a range of activities you will only find at an Adirondack Great Camp. Be it a corporate retreat or family reunion, The Point provides a setting that makes for the most memorable of group outings. RECOGNITIONLOCATIONThe Point can be reached in six hours from Manhattan; three hours from Montreal; two-and-a-half hours from Burlington, Vermont; and three hours from Albany, New York.
