| Nestled among palm trees on Belize's southern coast Turtle Inn provides Balinese-inspired accommodations just steps from some of the area's finest beaches available. |
EXPERIENCENestled among palm trees on Belize's southern coast Turtle Inn lies just north of the tiny fishing village of Placencia. Each Balinese-inspired villa or cabana has artisan-crafted furnishings, a large screen porch, luxury bathrooms with Japanese tub and a private walled garden with outdoor shower.
The 18 bungalows, all steps from the beach, are built in the style of traditional Balinese thatched huts, with large screened decks, ample living spaces, and ornate carved doors imported from Bali.
Relax before dinner with drinks at the sand-floored beach bar before enjoying a romantic candle-lit dinner at the open-air Mare Restaurant. Choose a la carte from the extensive menu offering fresh seafood dishes to authentic specialties from southern Italy.
Turtle Inn is a great base for venturing into the jungle. The front desk can arrange day trips to Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary (the world's first jaguar reserve) and a number of large Maya ruins. Monkey River is 45 minutes to the south by boat, through mangrove estuaries that are home to manatees. While cruising upriver, you'll encounter tiger herons, gargantuan butterflies, six-foot iguanas and howler monkeys.
