Sunday Brunches

Four Seasons Miami, Florida, USA
The 11:30 to 3pm brunch has a kids' corner - and adults have lots of serving stations. For carnivores, the Carving Station includes peppered New York striploin, garlic-roasted leg of lamb, citrus glazed pork loin and, our favorite, a whole suckling pig. Have a glass of Segura Viuda, a Bloody Mary or Mojito, and listen to live Latin American music. Afterwards, enjoy the hotel's stunning art, including the lobby's black 22ft-high Seated Woman sculpture by Botero.

Four Seasons Miami
The Ritz London
Choose an iconic 'Afternoon tea', and book far ahead for the 11:30 or 1:30pm session. Sit in the elegant Palm Court (1906, in Regency style), have your choice of tea or coffee in Royal Worcester cups. You have a three-tiered tea stand of savory and sweet finger sandwiches, plus fresh-cream cakes and, what joy, fresh-baked scones with house-made strawberry preserve and oh-so-decadent clotted cream. Add a glass of Ritz Champagne, and enjoy the harpist.
Grand Hotel Europe
The Grand Epoque hall, complete with stained glass windows and live jazz, is at its best Sundays 12:30 to 4pm. Enjoy glasses of Sovietskoye Champanskoye, ZAO Igristye Vina, as you join discerning locals who stay for hours, making repeated visits to giant display tables that metaphorically groan under displays of caviars, arrays of fish and meat cuts, and superb salads and hot dishes.
Hotel Metropole
After a fabulous ESPA facial from Fanny, come out early for the 12 noon to 2:30 poolside lunch, which will soon be packed. Connoisseurs come for Joël Robuchon's food, served on white Bernardaud porcelain. Try a plain omelette with a side order of eight tomato halves with six bite-sizes of Mozzarella - and warm breads, and a Menton lemon tart, by celebrity patissier Patrick Mesiano. Oh yes, and your bottle of Möet is in a chilled cooler by your side.
Mount Nelson Hotel
It's jazz and tradition at the indoor-outdoor Oasis Restaurant; Sundays 11:30 to 3pm. Start with a glass of Methode Cap Classique Pierre Jourdan Brut as you listen to the B3 Jazz Trio, Wayne Bosch on guitar, Buddy Wells on sax and vocalist Emily Bruce. A highlight of the cold buffet is always West Coast oysters or make-your-own Caesar. Afterwards, stroll the grounds of this lush estate, once a private house, built 1899, and its surrounding streets.
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore
Served 10:00 to 3pm, it's renowned for seafood, juicy roasts and sumptuous Asian and Japanese dishes. The hotel, named for the first Governor of the Straits Settlements, Sir Robert Fullerton, is riverside, so you can enjoy free-flowing Taittinger as you look across the Singapore River and Cavenagh Bridge to the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles. In a city that has its own relevant website, this is described as 'grandaddy of them all'. www.singaporesundaybrunch.com.
Westin on the Bund
Westin on the Bund, Shanghai, China
This is a two-floor extravaganza, complete with a 12-piece string orchestra and soprano in the open atrium. Enticing food displays are set around, and upstairs (Sunday FunDay here, 11:30 to 2pm, also includes Mumm, and Van Gogh vodka, free-flow wines and lots of entertainers, plus on-site nannies). Oh yes, chefs make pastas, Chinese dumplings and crepes suzette to order, and there's a lucky draw for vouchers to use later, in the restaurants.
