Best Hotel Beds

The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow, Russia
When Tom Cruise woke up in the Sealy bed of the 2,285 sq ft Presidential Suite he could not believe the view, to the left, of Red Square and the Kremlin. The bed comes with a gilded headboard topped by two golden cherubs, and there are clouds of Frette linens. The suite comes with a grand piano and highest-level security. The hotel comes with the must-visit rooftop 02 Bar.
The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow
Le Gray
The rooftop here has a year-round nightclub, and summer-only pool. As with anything hotelier Gordon Campbell Gray does, this new hotel is instantly talk-of-the-town. Suite 411 is the most wow, for its views over the Mediterranean and the harbor, plus Mount Lebanon Mountains, Ottoman and Roman ruins and Martyrs’ Square. The wood bed, with Artemide touch-lights for reading, is made up with Hypnos mattress and VIDIVI linens and bedding.
Park Hyatt Shanghai
Wake up in your Simmons and Irish linen bed in the 1,800 sq ft 8825 Diplomat Suite and you think you are in a snowstorm – in fact, on the 88th floor of this stunning Kohn Pedersen Fox building, you are often in the clouds. Designer Tony Chi gives this ultra-chic heavenly loft soaring 20 ft-high windows, and, under one of the (white) diagonal interior columns, two crouching anthropomorphic Yuka Namekawa sculptures.
Halekulani
The Vera Wang Suite, all 2,135 sq ft of it, has a master bed, Serta® Sweetheart mattress and Fili D’Oro white-fern 500-count linens, and day pillows that are the embroidered, sparkling appliqué dreams that Vera Wang uses for her gowns. And do not forget the Hollywood-style glamour mirror, the rich plum drapes, the shagreen side tables, and the 642 sq ft lanai.
Hôtel Le St-James
The two-bedroom 3,500 sq ft Presidential Suite is a Rococo masterpiece, with Italian parquet floors and rugs, paneled and gilded walls and gold-framed fine art. The bed has a heavy wood bedhead and ceiling-high green half-tester curtain, a Beauty Rest Contour Flex mattress, and Bruno Richard linens. Wake up to a working gas-fuelled coal-look fire, and a superb room service breakfast, with roses.
St. James
Designer Anne Maria Jagfeld has made Westminster Suite, number 702, like your private apartment, with putty-color or gold silk walls and, over your Hypnos bed, a six-branch golden Murano chandelier with little vellum shades. There are clouds of finest-finest white Beltrami linens and a gray-putty fabric bedhead, and you wake to look at original head-only portraits from the 1950s. This is timeless glamour, for today.
Le Meurice
Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams are among the many celebrities who stay here – do they too choose the hotel’s exotic chocolate breakfast, with honey garnered by bees who live on the roof of the nearby Opera Garnier? Stars’ favorites are the master bed of the 2,960 sq ft Belle Etoile Suite, with 360-degree views over Paris, but we also like the tent-like 628 Marco Polo Suite, formerly the hotel’s sewing room.
