Fall in Love with Quebec at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

by Eva Zhu

Since 1907, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts’ iconic hotels have been synonymous with momentous occasions, from glittering balls to intimate celebrations with friends and family. Today, they are well recognized landmarks the world over, residing within grand, storied buildings and perched in the most privileged locations. Within Quebec, we have five Fairmont hotels and resorts forming a perfect itinerary for experiencing all sides of Canada’s French-speaking province, spanning historic cities, lush countrysides and world-class ski slopes.

FAIRMONT LE CHÂTEAU MONTEBELLO

Nestled on a rolling green hill in the countryside, along the flowing Ottawa River, is the world’s largest log cabin. A getaway for all seasons, the sprawling Fairmont Le Château Montebello boasts over 40 unique activities and experiences on its grounds. Amongst the many leisure activities here is a golf course designed by Stanley Thompson, large aquatic center and members-only yacht club. The guest rooms exude Quebecois charm, featuring chalet-inspired interiors complete with log walls and bay windows looking out to nature. With four restaurants serving the best of in-season cuisine, including an outdoor terrace and a Sunday brunch, eating well is an experience of its own.

At the foot of the Tremblant peaks, surrounded by spectacular nature, Fairmont Tremblant is perfectly positioned for experiencing both adventure and relaxation. The alpine rooms, which include suites with full kitchens, overlook views of the mountain, woodlands or village. The dining is decadent, featuring the award-winning Choux Gras Brasserie Culinaire which also bakes up fresh bread and pastries. In the warmer seasons, hotel guests enjoy complimentary entry to the Parc Plage beach, and in the winter, first access to the ski lift. Après adventure, there’s a tranquil spa for relaxing in, and on weekend evenings, cozy campfires by the pool.

Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, which underwent a $140-million makeover in 2017, is a fixture in the heart of downtown Montreal. Its newly renovated rooms are bold and artsy, inviting contemporary luxury while celebrating history with 1960s details—there’s a suite named after John Lennon and Yoko Ono, the very same one where “Give Peace a Chance” was written and recorded. Its locally inspired restaurant Rosélys* presents a taste of Montreal, and Marche Artisans is the place to find gourmet takeaways as well as a creperie and pizzeria. Also included in the renovations was the Moment Spa, offering a stylish reprieve and calming oasis in the middle of the city.
