Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza came by her lengthy last name following a move from Manhattan to Budapest. There, while working for the U.S. ambassador to Hungary she met and married her half-British, half-Hungarian husband Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza. Inspired by the changes she was seeing in her skin after visits to Rácz, the luxurious 16th century spa owned by Stephen’s family, the couple launched a luxury skincare line under the name, Omorovicza. Between her former diplomatic duties and her present ones, she’s well travelled, making her supremely well qualified to take our travel questionnaire.

Q Which in-flight film do you hope for?
A

Quirky humour such as Bullets over Broadway or a great series such as Billions. I also love political dramas based on books—Game Change or Too Big to Fail, for example.

A

A

My family, a hammock from which to watch them, a good book and a glass of wine!

A

Bad food. Most other things can be overcome with a positive attitude.

A

Character and attention to small details.

A

Curiosity.

A

A luxury hotel.

A

This has been the subject of much discussion around our kitchen table. We think it’s anywhere where there’s a bit of an adventure involved. Some favourites have been the North Pole, Yellowstone National Park, Japan and Africa.

A

Something happening to my family.
Q Which historical world traveler do you most identify with?
A

I’m a big fan of William Dalrymple. Loved his book, From the Holy Mountain.

A

Laziness. I am far too comfortable sitting in a charming little café with a lovely view and reading instead of hitting the pavement and exploring.

A

Anyone with a sour attitude lasting more than 15 minutes.

A

If I am in danger or at risk of offending.
