With a vision to both the future and past, the pragmatic and irreverent Dutch have created another iconic haven in one of Amsterdam's many canal houses. In typical Droog style, the hotel bears the name, "Canal House."

The canal-facing rooms have windows that open up to the sound of busy boats and bikes scooting by.
Set upon the Keizersgracht or "Emperor's Canal," Canal House looks out upon one of the most painfully cool and effortlessly beautiful areas of this ringed city. Locals hurry by on rickety old bikes, mobile in one hand, groceries under the arm, and often with a passenger riding sidesaddle on the crossbar.

Inside the hotel's 17th-century exterior, the styling is moody and modern, with a touch of quirk. 23 rooms range in class from "Good, Better, and Great" to "Exceptional" or "Best." All of them are clad in black and deep violet, with WiFi, leather headboards, velvet curtains, and bath products by Green & Spring.

Head down to the bar for a few cocktails and take advantage of the revamped snack menu. Modern Dutch dining is a bit of an unsung hero after all.

For those looking for a little more stimuli before bedding down in your plush accommodations, Amsterdam nights won't disappoint. Cocktail culture is rich here, as is the opportunity to catch a live act taking advantage of the cavernous acoustics available only at Paradiso, a reclaimed 19th-century church.

love love love

loved the staff, location, everything. we had previously stayed at the Conservatorium (which was also great), but we liked the location here better, as well as the lush style.

also: we got upgraded :)

hooray for another killer kiwi property!

Amsterdam weekend break

We had a splendid time in Amsterdam. The hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful streets in Amsterdam with both shopping and world class museums close by.

If you are in for a cultural experience you should visit red light district in the evening, 15 minutes walk from the hotel.

The hotel havn't got a restaurant, they do however compensate for that by having a wide selection of their favorite restaurants captured in book lying i the reception and they will happily make reservations for you.

Overall we felt very welcome at the hotel and the staff was friendly and easy going.

A beautiful hotel and a wonderful stay

This hotel was a treat to stay at. The room was beautiful and the service was great. I would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to amsterdam, you cannot miss staying at this hotel.

From Schipol, guests can either train or taxi into the city. A train trip to Central Station followed by a quick tram ride is likely the most efficient option at less than 20 minutes.
