Overview

A regal 18th-century manor originally commissioned as a gift from a loving husband to his wife, La Casa de La Marquesa stands today as a bastion of old-world romance in the heart of central Mexico.

The legendary Marquis Don Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana had two remarkable monuments built in his lifetime: one, the massive 75-arch aqueduct of Querétaro that still stands today, and two, La Casa de La Marquesa, now one of Mexico's most beautiful luxury hotels.

Designed in the baroque style of the times, La Casa de La Marquesa is an architectural gem in a rapidly modernizing city. Here, room walls are decorated with ornate carvings; courtyards dotted with Moorish details, and shelves festooned with antiques.

Dining is elegant, simple and intimate at La Casa de La Marquesa, in either the tastefully sized Marchioness Dining Room or the exquisitely tiny Chapel, which can seat no more than 10. Perfect for you and your other half to spend the evening over a bottle of wine or two.

The two large and enclosed courtyards make perfect venues for weddings and other social events - gather your friends for a night under the stars, sheltered from the noise of the city.

Location

La Casa de La Marquesa is located in Santiago de Querétaro, one of Mexico's fastest-growing cities. The city dates back to the 16th century - accordingly, it is dotted with old churches, monuments, and an enormous aqueduct that remains its signature. Santiago de Querétaro's charm lies at the heart of the city, where actors and musicians ply their trade. Head to Plaza de Armas at night and you can catch Noche de Leyendas, part theatre and part history lesson, where city legends come to life.
