Hidden in the Peruvian Andes - at the bottom of one of the world's deepest canyons - Las Casitas del Colca celebrates nature in luxurious style.

In the couples' suite of Spa Samay at Las Casitas del Colca, the coca leaves on your temples are working their magic. They're part of the signature ALTU high-altitude massage - a welcome treatment given that this Peruvian luxury resort sits atop the lofty Andes Mountains in Colca Canyon.

You can ponder that contradiction in comfort at the Presidential Casita, one of 20 lodgings sprinkled throughout the property. Like all the casitas, it's built in the local rustic style, with brick walls, a red-tile roof, and modern perks like a glass roof over the bathtub. The Presidential Casita also has separate living and dining rooms with stunning views of the Colca River.

Get out and explore the vast canyon, where condors soar overhead as you trot along on a sure-footed paso horse. And for a taste of Peruvian culture, dine on the terrace at Las Casitas del Colca's restaurant, whose chefs cook with fresh produce from the resort's garden.

Don't Know What 2 Say

Simply perfect. Two types of rooms. Ask for or book Preferential Casita. Hot tub at the patio of the room: reasonably clean for being outdoors. Super high wooden ceilings. Fireplace. Warm floors. Perfect housekeeping. Very good if not great restaurant. Alive alpacas and llamas: feeding 3 times a day - can do it yourself. Great cocktails in the bar.

Several things to think about:

1. Large territory, very beautiful, smelling great. I was more than fine but can imagine there may be an allergy issue: don't forget your pills, but don't skip the visit!

2. Distance between reception and my Casita (the furthest in the hotel) was approximately 150 meters. Which is fine! But it's 3400m altitude and the road is mostly upside-down: I was thinking out my route twice particularity the first two days as the hotel does not provide golf cars or anything similar.

3. The breakfast was the weakest point, but lunch starts at 11:30 here and there is a snack menu and room service - all very tasty.

4. Spa facility is gorgeous, however, just one lady was on duty. So, if you consider massage for a couple ask beforehand to avoid disappointment.

But, again, it's a great place. If once upon a time I am back to Peru, I would try my best to return to this property

Near the coast of southern Peru, Las Casitas del Colca is in Colca Canyon, which sits on the Andes Mountains. The resort is close to the colonial village of Yanque, and the nearest airport is Rodríguez Ballón International in the city of Arequipa, a three-hour drive away. Arequipa is a short flight from three major Peruvian centers: Lima (70 minutes), Cusco (80 minutes), and Juliaca (25 minutes).
