Overview

The Incans had some serious architectural skill, and at Tambo del Inka Resort & Spa, the tradition of innovation in the Sacred Valley continues.

Set upon the Vilcanota River in the enchanting Urubamba Valley, Tambo Del Inka has created a very current visual aesthetic using rustic materials that give the property a homey feel - stunning and new, yet full of character.

128 rooms and suites look out to the water's edge, and up to the towering Andes. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be absolutely ant-sized, this is the place to find out. Decor finds inspiration by way of traditional Incan art and pattern, with each element then re-applied in a modern theme. Wood, stone, rough woven fabrics, and even stepped fields have all found new homes in this contemporary, natural retreat.

After a day of exploring, the spa welcomes guests with fluffy robes and open arms. Float idly in the indoor/outdoor pool, and then hit the massage table for a rubdown your muscles won't soon forget.

Close out the day with Peruvian fusion food at the main restaurant, Hawa. Quinoa, beans, meats, chilis, corn and potatoes all mingle to create flavor profiles you'll be recalling for a lifetime, and savoring as long as possible.

Great hotel, wonderful staff.

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel, we did not expect such a beautiful property. On check-in we were informed that we had been given a double upgrade to a master suite. The room was amazing, very comfortable. The spacious suite had everything you may want or need. The food served at the restaurant is quite good and varied. Breakfast is excellent with a wide variety of choices, great service. We planned a long stay of 4 nights, just enough time to relax and enjoy our visit to the sacred valley. The only drawbacks that I found with the hotel, was the spa area. The heated pool and sauna were too cold to enjoy. There are no jacuzzis for guests, unless you pay for the water treatment tour. Maid service does not replenish bathroom amenities, we had to request it. I also found that staff were ill prepared during an unforeseen event that occurred. A protest was held during two days of our stay, so roads were blocked off. Something rare we were told. No one in the hotel informed us of this, found out through our driver from Cusco. It seemed like they wanted to minimize the situation rather than keep guests informed. Though Stephen the concierge was great, the only one who was very upfront in explaining our options. Would have been nice if they had set up an information board keeping guests informed, where they could have offered some suggestions of sightseeing around town. We lost a couple of days of sightseeing in the sacred valley, this could have been handled better if staff had been more forthcoming.
