The Vasilicos was once a family home, losing nothing of its charm in the conversion to a seductive, all-suite hotel with a million dollar view.
Despite its proximity to a monastery, guests at The Vasilicos are treated to a way of life that's anything but monkish. Just eight suites are contained within, each is hewn from the rockface in a style characteristic of Santorini architecture. Cool and airy during the day, they're spread across different levels and decorated in simple style.
Dining is an informal experience, with no restaurant to speak of. Instead, the hotel's chef, Yannis, will speak to guests about their culinary needs before preparing a feast to be served on your own private terrace.
Outside, the spectacular view over the Caldera is best enjoyed from the hotel's heated pool, one of the largest found on the caldera. If a closer view of the area is desired, survey the majesty from a catamaran cruise, an extra the hotel is happy to organize for guests.
