How do we rate a property?
We rate all our hotels, resorts, and lodges using our own bespoke grading system. We'll only invite a property into our collection once it's been assessed by one of our specialists. If it doesn't impress us, it doesn't make the cut.

Created from huge limestone slabs, Amanjiwo's suites are tiered in two crescent shaped rows along the contours of a natural amphitheater facing the world's largest Buddhist sanctuary, Borobudur.
Amanjiwo is made up of volcanic ash-tinted suites. The nearby volcanoes of Merapi and Merbabu are have been quiet for decades, but their presence is as awe-inspiring as ever.
Before you discover your suite, you must first enter this luxury hotel through its limestone monolith and bell-shaped rotunda where you will be welcomed with rose petals tossed by Javanese girls in traditional dress.
Allow the hotel staff to take care of your bags and find your way to Amanjiwo's Romanesque amphitheatre-style pool that has also been built from giant blocks of paras yogya - the local limestone. From this vantage point you get a unique perspective of the impressive landscape surrounding this region of Java. Behind you, volcanoes rise into the mist, and before you lays Borobudur, one of the largest and best preserved ninth-century religious sites in the world.
Please note that the property has started development of new villas on the southern side of the resort, adjacent to the main resort grounds. This project is part of their ongoing commitment to elevating the guest experience. During this time, all public facilities and services will remain fully operational. To minimize disruption, the villa development work will be confined to the hours of 9AM to 5PM daily.
