How do we rate a property?
We rate all our hotels, resorts, and lodges using our own bespoke grading system. We'll only invite a property into our collection once it's been assessed by one of our specialists. If it doesn't impress us, it doesn't make the cut.
From the quality of the food served in the restaurant to the amenities offered in each bedroom, we carefully rate each property to make sure it meets our high expectations.

About This Hotel
In the Mekong valley in northern Laos, Amantaka is a haven of tranquil relaxation. It's in the city of Luang Prabang, where you can explore over 32 temples, some more than 500-years old.
Beside the winding Mekong River, in a lush tropical valley in Northern Lao, is Luang Prabang. It's filled with so many centuries-old temples that the entire city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And you can explore it all, while living in luxury, at the boutique resort Amantaka.
A lovely open-air French colonial building is the first thing you'll see. That's where you'll check-in, and where you'll likely drop by later for drinks in the bar, or a dinner of gourmet French and Lao cuisine. A terrace beside the swimming pool offers sun, shade, and light snacks and drinks all day. Your suite, one of just 24 at Amantaka, is a light and airy haven with a king-size bed and a private veranda.
Luang Prabang and the surrounding area are rich with historic and natural wonders. The city is known for ancient Buddhist temples, some dating back to the 1500's. A river boat trip takes you to the Pak Ou Caves, where pilgrims have left thousands of Buddha figures, over hundreds of years.
